Walk through my city...

Today I decided to go out exploring in Philadelphia a little more. So I headed out to explore down South Street. Apparently South Street is known for the art that randomly pops up on random alleys off South Street. I decided to go to the Magic Gardens. It was VERY interesting. So much to see!! It is basically a garden/art exhibit made entirely of mosaics and other random knick knacks. They also had a little section set up to celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos, and you could put up notes to those who have passed away, so I took the opportunity to put some notes up for people I have lost.

After I left the garden, I headed down south street and walked to 2nd and Lombard. The walk down was GREAT!! I saw tons of little rasta shops, which was funny, and I even bought popcorn from this little kid who was selling popcorn for his Boy Scouts troop. I loved walking down South Street. I ended up buying a gyro at this cute little Greek place on my way back. Once I got to 2nd and Lombard, I walked around this adorable vintage flea market!! There was SOO much stuff!! The streets were also cobblestone around the flea market which gave it that extra little character.

After I left the flea market I decided to head to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. It is on 6th and Chestnut so I wasn't that far from it so I might as well! It was very moving to learn more about the Liberty Bell and how much it stood for in the past and what is still stands for not only for Americans but for people all over the world.

Once I left the historic district, I walked down Walnut Street to do a little shopping. I couldn't help it, I got a coupon for 40% off at Gap!!! After I finished shopping, I headed home for a little bit. I'm getting ready to go out with friends to watch the Phillies play the Giants in the playoff game!!! Go Phillies!!!!

Med School

I've been living in Philadelphia now for almost 3 months. Crazy how time flies!! Medical school is going well. The first block was anatomy, so of course I was so excited and loved every minute of it!! The block we're in now, is just a little bit less motivating and exciting for me, so I have been lagging a bit. I find myself studying all the time, even though I do think most of this stuff is boring right now. I came to the conclusion that studying in med school is like studying for finals....except every single day. It's alright though. We get to practice patient interaction and learn how to do a proper physical exam so it breaks up the monotony of studying biochem.

I have been finding lots of fun things to see and do while in Philly, although I haven't really had the time to get out and actually do them. I did finally make it to Reading Terminal which makes me very nostalgic for Seattle's famous Pike Place Market. I am looking forward to checking out some of these other markets and unique artsy things that Philly has to offer. Not to mention the MLB Playoffs. It has been pretty crazy the past couple of weeks since the Phillies have made it to the playoffs. Hopefully we make it to the World Series and win!! I would literally just have to walk out of my apartment to get to the parade route, which would be CRAZY!! :)

I haven't gotten to take very many trips, but I did get to go to Six Flags in Jersey in September. I also got to visit my family in New York. It was good to get out of Philly for a little while, I was getting a bit stir crazy being in the same place for to long.

Well that's all the time I have to update....but i'll update again soon!!
